FAQS

Clear answers to common questions about Triplex

In simple terms - Triplex helps farmers stop paying for nitrogen their crop can’t use.

  • Triplex is a field-by-field liquid fertiliser system designed to improve nitrogen efficiency on farm.

It works by properly accounting for soil-supplied nitrogen and then supplying only the nutrition a crop can realistically use, helping reduce losses from leaching and volatilisation.

  • No — Triplex is a system, not a bag or a branded product.

Each formulation is made specifically for:

    • The field

    • The soil

    • The crop and target (yield or protein)

It can be straight nitrogen or a full NPK with trace elements.

  • No.

Triplex works alongside existing fertiliser programmes.
It helps improve efficiency and reduce waste — it doesn’t force a full system change.

  • Not automatically.

    Triplex is about:

    • Matching total nitrogen supply (soil + applied) to crop demand

    • Reducing losses

In many cases this results in less applied nitrogen, but only where it can be done without risking yield or protein.

  • Triplex is not designed as a yield booster.

    Its aim is to:

    • Improve nitrogen use efficiency

    • Reduce wasted fertiliser

    • Protect margins

Yields and protein are maintained by improving efficiency, not by pushing rates.

  • Triplex is applied using:

    • A standard farm sprayer

    • Either soil-applied or foliar

No specialist fertiliser spreading equipment is required.

  • Yes.

Liquid application improves nutrient placement and availability in:

    • Dry soils

    • Variable conditions

This is one reason Triplex performs well in challenging seasons.

  • Triplex is designed to reduce nitrogen loss risk, which can be beneficial near watercourses.

    All applications should still follow:

    • Local stewardship guidance

    • NVZ rules

    • Advisor recommendations

Triplex supports compliance — it does not override it.

  • Triplex works within RB209 and FACTS principles.

RB209 is used as the starting point, then Triplex:

    • Properly accounts for soil nitrogen

    • Looks at total nitrogen supply

    • Improves efficiency without breaking the rules

  • Triplex is based on:

    • Real field data

    • Measured soil nitrogen

    • Harvest nitrogen offtake

UK examples regularly show true nitrogen use efficiency around 50–60%, even in good crops — highlighting where losses occur.

  • Most farmers start with:

    • One field

    • A Triplex field review

    This shows:

    • How much nitrogen is already available

    • Where losses are occurring

    • Whether Triplex is worth using on your farm

There’s no obligation to go further.

  • Triplex works best where:

    • Nitrogen inputs are moderate to high

    • Efficiency and margins matter

    • Fields are variable or sensitive

If it’s not suitable for a field, we’ll say so.
