How Triplex Works

A practical way to stop nitrogen slipping through your fingers

Triplex isn’t about fancy theory. It’s about looking at what’s already in your soil — and only adding what the crop can genuinely use.

Because there’s no point paying for nitrogen that ends up in the ditch

Triplex helps you feed the crop — not the losses.

  • Every Triplex job starts on farm.
    We look at:

    • The crop and what you’re trying to achieve (yield or protein)

    • Soil type and variability

    • Previous cropping

    • Historic performance

    • Fertiliser history

    • Known problem areas (dry patches, wet areas, watercourses)

This helps identify where nitrogen is most likely being lost.

  • Most fertiliser plans only focus on what you’re about to spread. Triplex counts what the soil is already supplying. Using soil tests and RB209 guidelines, we account for:

    • Soil Mineral Nitrogen (SMN)

    • Soil Nitrogen Supply (SNS)

    • Soil type and rainfall

Quite often, there’s more nitrogen sitting there than people think.

If it’s already in the field, why pay for it twice?

  • It’s not just “how much are you applying?” it’s: Nitrogen applied

    • Nitrogen released from the soil
      = Total nitrogen available

Then we ask one simple question: Can the crop actually use all of that? If the answer’s no, that’s where losses start.

  • Not percentages. Not theory. Actual kilograms per hectare. Actual pounds per hectare.

When you see how much nitrogen is being paid for but not used, the conversation changes.

It stops being, “How much should I apply?” And becomes, “How much am I losing?”

  • There’s no blanket answer. It’s field by field. Usually, it comes down to one of three things:

    Same output, less waste
Trim the excess without risking yield.

    Better efficiency
Supply nutrition in a form that’s harder to lose.

    Full nutrition where needed
Build in P, K and trace elements properly — not as an afterthought.

  • Triplex isn’t off the shelf. It’s blended using:

    • Urea

    • Acids

    • The Triplex mix

That creates nutrients that stay available and are less likely to wash away or gas off. It can be straight nitrogen. Or a full NPK with trace elements. But it’s made for your field — not a generic recommendation.

  • No specialist kit. No complicated system. Applied through a standard farm sprayer. Soil-applied or foliar. Works in dry spells. Works in moisture. Works on variable ground. It’s practical.

  • At harvest, we review:

    Yield
    Protein (where relevant)
What the crop actually removed from the soil.

That feeds into next season. Year on year, it tightens up efficiency and protects margin.

  • Nitrogen losses don’t just happen in bad crops. They happen when total nitrogen supply exceeds what the crop can physically take up. Triplex helps keep supply and demand aligned.
