What Is Triplex?
A smarter way to use nitrogen
Triplex is a bespoke liquid fertiliser system designed to improve nutrient use efficiency by accounting for the nitrogen already in the soil and supplying only what the crop can realistically use.
Instead of selling fertiliser by the tonne, Triplex works field by field to reduce losses from leaching and volatilisation while maintaining crop performance.
The problem Triplex solves
Most fertiliser programmes focus on what is applied, not what is already available.
But soil releases nitrogen every season through mineralisation. When this soil nitrogen isn’t properly counted:
Crops receive more total nitrogen than they can take up
Excess nitrogen is lost through leaching, volatilisation and run-off
Yields can still look good while efficiency remains poor
Farmers pay for nitrogen that never reaches the crop
Good yields do not always mean good nitrogen use efficiency.
Triplex exists to address this hidden inefficiency.
What Triplex iS
A field-by-field liquid fertiliser system
Built around soil nitrogen accounting
Designed to reduce nutrient losses
Aligned with RB209 and FACTS principles
Applied using a standard farm sprayer
Triplex is a nutrition strategy, not a commodity input.
How Triplex works
Triplex starts by asking a simple but often overlooked question:
How much nitrogen does this field already have?
From there, the process is:
Field assessment Soil type, crop, history, targets and risk areas are reviewed.
Soil nitrogen is properly accounted for Soil Mineral Nitrogen (SMN) and Soil Nitrogen Supply (SNS) are treated as real nitrogen, not ignored.
Total nitrogen availability is calculated. Applied nitrogen + soil nitrogen = total supply.
Losses are identified and quantified. Inefficiency is shown in kg N/ha and £/ha, not theory.
Triplex is formulated to suit the field. Only the nutrition the crop can realistically use is supplied.
Application fits existing systems
Applied with a standard sprayer, soil or foliar.
What Triplex fertiliser is made from
Triplex fertiliser is mixed using: Urea, Acids, a specialist Triplex nutrient mix.
These components form nutrient complexes that are:
Plant-available
More resistant to leaching and volatilisation than standard solid fertilisers
Formulations can be: Straight nitrogen, Full NPK, NPK with trace elements
Each batch is made specifically for the field, not off the shelf.
Why liquid fertiliser?
Liquid application offers several practical advantages:
More even nutrient distribution than granular fertilisers
Better placement in dry or variable soil conditions
Improved synchrony between nutrient supply and crop demand
Reduced salt stress compared to solid fertilisers
Triplex uses liquid fertiliser as a delivery system for efficiency, not as a marketing label.
Where Triplex works best
Triplex is particularly suited to:
High-input arable crops (e.g. milling wheat)
Fields with variable soil performance
Situations where protein consistency matters
Land near watercourses or environmentally sensitive areas
Farms looking to improve margin resilience
What farmers typically notice
Less wasted nitrogen
More consistent crop performance
Same yield and protein targets achieved
Lower risk of environmental losses
Better value from every kilogram of fertiliser applied
The principle behind Triplex
Soil nitrogen is real nitrogen.
When total nitrogen supply exceeds crop uptake capacity, losses occur — regardless of yield.
Triplex helps ensure nutrients are supplied when the crop can use them, not when they are most likely to be lost.
